Peter Coad OAM - The Ballad Of Harry Hill (Peter Coad). Peter Coad started his career in music on the Bob Fricker Show in 1961 in Pt Augusta SA. From then on Peter has continued with his music, writing his own songs about Australian people, places and characters with much success. With a huge catalogue of recordings behind him, Peter's latest single is a gentle story ballad about one of the early pioneers from the Flinders Ranges area of Wilpena Pound, Harry Hill. Harry Hill built a small stone homestead in the centre of Wilpena Pound which still stands today. Peter was born in Hawker SA, and Wilpena Pound is just 'up the road' a bit, so Peter knows and understands the country, its people, and pioneers in the like of Harry Hill.

Peter Coad OAM – Dead Man’s Hill (Peter Coad) Peter has built a long recording career in music, writing stories of Australian characters, places and happenings. Peter’s single is based on a true story with musical backing by Coad Sisters. It’s the story of an unknown man buried close to the railway line between Yunta and Oodla Wirra SA on the Barrier Highway between Adelaide (SA) and Broken Hill (NSW).

“I have been passing that sign all my life, and recently, I took time to stop. I researched the story, and although a sad one I feel the song is a positive as this unknown man has not been forgotten, and those who hear the song, will now know the meaning behind the sign and cross on ‘Dead Man’s Hill’.”

"My sister Virginia wrote 'Kidman's Men', and I added the melody and a few words here and there. Coad Sisters did the backing. My Great Uncle worked for Sir Sydney Kidman when Sir Sydney owned Wilpena Station in South Australia, and he of course met Sir Sydney Kidman personally and passed on stories of that early time to me. Virginia's storyline from the view of a young stockman working as one of Kidman's men therefore resonated with me," Peter said. ------------------ Single released 2nd May 2023 via digital download & radio via CRS Publicity.

1942 – PETER COAD OAM (P. Coad/V. Hermel) "This is a song I wrote in memory of the 1st of a series of raids, the Japanese made on Darwin 80 years ago. There are still many historic reminders from war time Darwin in the Northern Territory. Over the years, I have spoken to people who were soldiers stationed there at that time and as it is 80 years (in 2022) since the first attack we give thanks to those who stepped up and kept Australia safe in a time of great conflict. I felt inspired to jot down the words and my sister Virginia put music to them and Coad Sisters did the backing for the song. My thanks to everyone for your support of my music." Peter Coad OAM - Long Way Round (P. Coad) Peter says, “The idea came about when I travelled the ‘Long Way Round’ from Hawker down to Quorn in South Australia via a seldom used dirt road which takes you through station country west of the Flinders Ranges and the bitumen road, and would have been a main access for folks travelling north.
